As I type this it is just after sun up, it’s cool and crisp
for the first week of august, I am sitting by the camp fire made out of some
scrap wood that was left over from work projects, The coffee is hot the fire
warms my outside as the coffee does my insides. It is quiet except a few gold
finches on my feeders and a few squirrels that I refer to as tree rats are scurrying
about. I am the only one up and the sound of the crackling fire and the birds
singing is enough to say to me that I am a very lucky person at this point and
time.
Not sure there if
this is worthy of an entry or not for some of you, but for some reason I felt
the need to share this singular point in my time line with you all.
The conditions are
perfect to shut the brain down and not think about work or bills or going to
the grocery store for food or what you will have to be doing in an hour from
now. The sights and sounds of nature and the fire lets you just zone out and
reboot.
If you have the
chance give it a try it is refreshing, and if you happen to nap by the fire,
while it is sending waves of flickering warmth all over your face and body in
the cool air, well that is just a bonus. Take a step back from the your busy
world and take it in a nice quiet fire and the sounds of nature even if it is
you just in your back yard, and if you can’t have a fire just stop and listen
and relax to what’s around you . . . the world will be there when you come back
from your brain reboot.
The only thing that would have been a bonus is a little Van
Morrison softly playing in the background, maybe a little bit of into the
Mystic…
See you next time
