Vacation 2014

Well I have done it, I went ahead and took a vacation for the first time in 8 years, friends and family were shocked at this, but my fear was that I was getting burned out at work and that if I did not take one I would quit.
So what did I do on my Fall Vacation? I went to the woods of Maine to my camp and enjoyed the last few days before I close up for the winter.

I wouldn’t say I wasted my vacation I got to drink coffee by my wood stove every morning which started my day off right. The quite of the fall in the back woods the cool crisp air had just enough of a bite to make the morning fire feel as though you never wanted to leave the chair, not even to refill your cup of coffee.

We went to dinner at the Ole Mill Tavern a local eatery that has some of the best food in the area and they do prime rib just right.  We were going to go to the casino, but never did make it

I helped a friend put in a wood floor and two bead board ceilings, which was actually fun to do and working with my friend Matt I am sure was a big part of that. I made homemade beef stew one night and I made spicy wings on another just to name a few things.

We had our Cigars-Beers and Bratts day on the first Saturday of vacation and it was pretty cool, despite the fact I am not a big drinker of beer. We had all kinds of Bratwurst and sausages and kielbasa, I was stuffed, and I should have paced myself better.

While on vacation I also had a meet and greet with a moose, He was swimming across our lake and I got a call and went racing to the lower beach area and there he was swimming right by me, I snapped a few photos to share with everyone. The photo went virile where I was the town and the state grabbed it up, as did the Lake Commission. From what I understand it was the first time a Moose has been seen in Keoka Lake. I tell you it was a sight to see when he swam by me. At first glance it looked like a log floating by. I followed him on shore with my trusty camera and then I saw a dock that had not been pulled out, so I raced to it and then out into the lake to get a closer photo, when he emerged from the lake I made a noise of excitement over seeing one that close and have it on film, he must have heard me because he stopped and turn his head to face me, He was beautiful.

To round out the week I was taken to a Japanese Hibachi Grill the chef was fantastic and the show was entertaining, I will give you more on that later.

I was sorry to see the camp season come to and end not to mention my vacation, but the real world beckoned to me and much like the swallows returning to Capistrano, I too must return to my home roost.

Until next time fun seekers, I bid you a fond adieu.
